PESHAWAR - Pakistan's new Burraq unmanned air vehicle (UAV) is credited with helping turn the tide in the battle for control of the Tirah Valley. The Burraq UAV is capable of carrying air-to-surface armaments.

The strategic Tirah Valley has been the scene of fierce fighting between the Pakistani Army and various anti-government militants. The fighting has raged for nearly two weeks.

Pakistan developed the Burraq UAV, which can carry the laser-guided Burq missile. Pakistan announced a successful test of this armed UAV took place on March 14.

Pakistani officials say senior militant commanders, including those from Mangal Bagh's Lashkar-e-Islam (LeI) and Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), were killed in Pakistani UAV strikes.
