LAGOS - Nigeria appears to be operating an armed version of a Chinese-made unmanned air vehicle (UAV). The wreckage of a UAV was found near Dumge village in the Mafa District of Borno Province, northern Nigeria.

Borno is the area where much of the Boko Haram violence, including the massacre of 2,000 civilians, occurred in 2015. Currently, the Nigerian military is fighting to hold onto the city of Maiduguri against a Boko Haram assault.

The UAV that crashed appears to be the Chinese-made CH-3. Pictures show an air vehicle equipped with two missiles that may be Chinese-made AR-1s.

In addition to Nigeria, other operators of the CH-3 could be Pakistan and Saudi Arabia.
