BAKU - The Israeli unmanned air vehicle (UAV) that crashed in Iran came from a base in Azerbaijan, sources claim. The Israeli UAV was reportedly on a spy mission over Iran's Natanz nuclear site. The UAV took off from an air base in Azerbaijan's Nakhchivan (Nakhijevan), Asbarez.

The Hermes UAV crashed on August 23 after 300 kilometers of flight. Iranian officials say the UAV was shot down by local air defense forces using a surface-to-air missile (SAM).

Azerbaijan denies these reports and said it would never allow its territory to be used as a launch pad against Iran.
