POINT MUGU, Calif. - The first MQ-4C Triton unmanned air vehicle (UAV) has landed at the Naval Base Ventura County at Point Mugu. The UAV is assigned to Unmanned Patrol Squadron One Nine (VUP-19) Detachment Point Mugu known as "Big Red."
The MQ-4C Triton took off from Palmdale Airport. Operators with the VUP-19 at NAS Jacksonville, Florida, flew this UAV. VUP-19 DET Point Mugu will provide maintenance functions for the MQ-4C Triton. Eventually, the MQ-4C will operate over the the Pacific Ocean.
