APN-241 Platform: C-27J Spartan Source: Alenia Aeronautica |
NEWTOWN, Conn. - The Northrop Grumman APN-241 is a windshear prediction, color weather/ground mapping radar for transport aircraft. The APN-241 has a 10-nautical-mile range windshear mode that is not restricted by altitude, and it provides a 20-nautical- mile range in air-to-air situational awareness mode. The radar has Terrain Following/Terrain Avoidance capability and can provide overlays of Traffic Collision and Avoidance System (TCAS) information on weather or ground maps. It offers both Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) mapping mode and Skin Paint mode. Finally, the APN-241 allows pilots to land transport aircraft on unimproved runways without aid from ground-based landing systems. The APN-241 is the baseline radar for the Lockheed Martin C-130J and Alenia C-27J Spartan Also, it is an option on the EADS CASA C-295 aircraft. Production of the radar will mirror that of its platforms.
Forecast International is in the process of updating its APN-241 market intelligence report. It is included as a part of the Electronic Systems service.
