New ATC for Budapest Source: CIA |
NEUILLY-SUR-SEINE, France - Thales has signed a contract with HungaroControl, the Hungarian Air Navigation Service Provider, to equip a new air traffic control center being built in Budapest. The new ATC center is in support of the MATIAS ANS III project.
Thales will provide the new Air Traffic Management (ATM) center with new hardware, a software upgrade, and a simulator that will help with the training of controllers. Thales will also equip the center with the capability of externally interfacing the center over TCP/IP (transmission control protocol/Internet protocol). The new hardware will help increase safety, add capacity, reduce delays, and simplify air traffic controllers' workload.
The MATIAS ANS III project by HungaroControl is fully compliant with EU regulations and directives of SESAR and EUROCONTROL. The SESAR (Single European Sky ATM Research) program aims to modernize European ATM systems and eliminate the fragmented approach that focuses on national boundaries. EUROCONTROL is the European Organization for the Safety of Air Navigation; it currently has 38 member states.
