NEWTOWN, Conn. - The U.S. Dept of Defense disclosed today that General Dynamics Advanced Information Systems is being awarded a $30.6 million contract for the full-rate production of 118 Type 3 Advanced Mission Computers. This award supports U.S. F/A-18 and E/A-18G aircraft.
The AMC, also known as the GD3000, is a general-purpose digital computer primarily used for aircraft applications. Its commercial open architecture supports a variety of platforms and facilitates rapid deployment of new technologies. The designated lead platform is the F/A-18 with other users including the E/A-18G Growler, the AV-8B Harrier and the V-22 Osprey. Forecast International recently updated its Advanced Mission Computer (GD3000) market intelligence report and predicted steady sales due to U.S. Dept of Defense needs for Super Hornets, Growlers and Osprey aircraft. The updated report is included as part of the Electronics Systems service.
